Vocabulary Showcase: Synonyms for “understand”

Once again, I will say that English is a funny language. You can use the same word for a small stick on a tree, to explain that you have understood something. Let’s see these strange examples of words which mean “understand” in action!:

·         “Oh I get it! The earth isn’t flat!”

·         “I see, so you want me to leave?”

·         “You don’t seem to recognise the real problem we have here”

·         “You need to acknowledge the reason we all want refunds!”

·         “Do you appreciate how difficult it is to ride a horse and play the flute at the same time?”

·         “I twigged the answer to question 34!”

Before you ask me, yes I do appreciate how strange my examples are. I am a strange person. My brain is a strange place.

What is something you didn’t “get” until recently? I know someone who found out 2 years ago that chocolate milk does not come from brown cows…
